Jason Slater '02, associate director of Web Communications, hosted a Higheredlive.com webinar on blogging for communications professionals. HigherEd Live is a weekly web show focused on the emerging role of social media and digital media marketing in higher education. Slater oversees student bloggers for Union Unfiltered, a collection of blogs showing “Union as Students Experience It.”

President Stephen C. Ainlay appeared on WAMC's The Roundtable to discuss William Henry Seward, Class of 1820, as part of the Founders Day celebration. Also on the show was Walter Stahr, author of the acclaimed biography, Seward: Lincoln's Indispensable Man.

Deidre Hill Butler, associate professor of sociology and director of Africana Studies, discussed “Legacy of Medgar Evers Fifty Years after his Assassination” at the Albany chapter of the NAACP. She also gave a talk, “Stay Empowered through the Struggle,” for Youth Build, Jobs Program Schenectady County.

The research of Lori J. Marso, professor of political science and director of Women’s and Gender Studies, and David Cotter, professor and chair of the Sociology Department, was referenced in a Sunday New York Times Review op-ed on the 50th anniversary of the publication of Betty Friedan’s international best seller, The Feminine Mystique. Stacie Raucci, associate professor of classics, has published "The Order of Orgies: Sex and the Cinematic Roman," in Screening Love and Sex in the Ancient World, edited by Monica S. Cyrino, New York, Palgrave MacMillan, 2013, pp. 143-155.
