Irish author Anne Enright, whose writing explores themes such as family relationships, memory and forgetting, gender, sexuality, and the relationship between Ireland’s past and present, will read from her works 7 p.m. Monday, April 15 in the Nott Memorial.
The event is free and open to the public.
The author of five critically acclaimed novels, Enright has published three collections of short stories and a memoir on pregnancy and motherhood. Her novel, The Gathering, won the prestigious Man Booker Prize in 2007 and the 2008 Irish Book of the Year. Her most recent novel, 2011's The Forgotten Waltz, won the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction Award.
Her short stories have been published in, among other places, The New Yorker and The Paris Review, and she has written essays for the Guardian and the London Review of Books.
Enright's visit is presented by the English Department, Women’s and Gender Studies, the President’s Commission on the Status of Women and the Internal Educational Fund.
