International Culture Week at Union

Union will celebrate its global diversity, April 29 – May 3, during the “World Around U International Culture Festival.” The five-day festival will include activities, presentations, food and music. The campus community is encouraged to pick up a “World Around U Amazing Race” passport at any one of the scheduled events. Stamped passports can be entered into a raffle at the gala event on Friday, May 3. Top prize is an iPad mini.

Highlights of the festival include:

Monday, April 29
1 p.m. Reamer Pit: Language Expo! Learn and new language and never get lost in translation.

6 p.m. Golub House: Movie: EuroTrip, starring Scott Mechlowicz, Jacob Pitts, Michelle Trachtenberg, Travis Wester and Jessica Boehrs.

Tuesday, April 30
1 p.m. Unity Room: "I"dentity Dialogues: What is it like being an international student?

6 p.m. Golub House: The African Games Trivia Night. Test your knowledge of drama, television, medicine, music, politics and history.

Wednesday, May 1
1 p.m Reamer: Foam-a-Flag: Make a flag and learn about a new nation.

6 p.m. Old Chapel: Latin American Dancing: Loosen up with some salsa and feel the samba vibe.

Thursday, May 2
1 p.m. Reamer: Origami! Learn how to fold a crane.

6 p.m. Wold and Messa House: A Taste of Asia! Sample traditional dishes from all over Asia and learn about the history of these foods.

Friday, May 3
3 – 6 p.m. Nott Memorial: The International Culture Festival 2013 All Around U Gala!
All of the nations represented by Union College’s international students will be on hand to offer food and entertainment. Attendees should bring along their stamped passports to get in the running for great prizes.

The “World Around U International Culture Festival” is sponsored by the African Student Association, the Asian Student Union, the Ballroom Dancing Club, the Russian and Eastern European Club and the Karate Club. The festival is also supported by the IEG Committee, Bronner House, Interdisciplinary Programs, International Student Services, the Modern Languages Department, the Office of Minerva Programs, Student Activities and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
