Tuesday common hour programs announced

The spring term programs for the Tuesday common hour were recently announced. All events are from 12:55 to 1:45 p.m. unless otherwise noted. All members of the campus community are welcome at these events unless they are clearly designated. The schedule is as follows:

April 9: Blended Learning Panel in Olin Auditorium.

What does "blended learning" mean? Why might a faculty member want to adopt a "blended learning" instructional strategy? How are faculty already implementing "blending learning" environments right here at Union? Come join Brian Cohen (Biology), Kristin Fox (Chemistry) and Mark Walker (History) as they discuss the blended learning models they have implemented in their courses and answer your questions.

April 16: Faculty meeting in Olin Auditorium

April 23: Interdisciplinary Programs Open House in Olin 211.

Chat with faculty and students from the interdisciplinary programs and see the kind of projects they are working on.

April 30: Adirondack Week Preview in Olin Auditorium

The session will preview the College's Adirondack Week. The slate of activities will be focused on the study of the Adirondacks, and include lectures, workshops, a panel discussion, food, music, and a rock climbing wall. This session will preview Adirondack Weeks activities.

May 7: Faculty Meeting in Olin Auditorium

May 14: CROCHET Lab Open House in Wold 013A

Help the Computer Science dept christen its new interdisciplinary lab. The Collaborative Robotics and Computer-Human Empirical Testing (CROCHET) lab features robots, unique interfaces, and collaborations with many other departments and programs including Biology, Russian, and Engineering.

May 21: Media Guest Panel in Olin Auditorium

A panel of experts will discuss the changing world of the media: how it has shaped what's news, what gets covered and how.

May 28: Faculty division/center meetings

June 4: Cinematic Montage Student Presentations in Reamer Auditorium

Ever wonder what makes movies work? Come to a presentation of short works and discussion by the students of this year’s Cinematic Montage class. From shot to sequence to scene, come explore the language of the motion picture.
