Volunteer of the Week: Sarah Rand ’14

Sarah Rand ’14 is the Kenney Community Center’s Volunteer of the Week.

She is house manager for Wells House, the community service theme house, and serves as president of Campus Kitchens, preparing and delivering weekly meals to City Mission.

Since last winter, Rand has volunteered as a Smoking Cessation Counselor, which is a program to support Schenectady community members quit smoking. Additionally, she works closely with Schenectady Free Health Clinic physicians to plan proper treatment for patients. She has also both interned and volunteered in hospitals near her hometown of Hillsdale, N.J.

A biology major on the pre-med track with an anthropology minor, Rand is the president of both the Pre-health Society and SNMA-MAPS. She also works as a research assistant for the Biology Department and someday hopes to be a neonatologist in public healthcare.
