United Way fund drive underway

Publication Date

Union College’s United Way campaign kicked off this week and organizers are hoping to build on last year’s efforts with a special "Take the Step Up" challenge.

Last year, College employees donated close to $17,000 to the campaign. This year's goal is $20,000. The "Step Up" challenges the campus community to increase their gifts by at least a $1 a week. Those accepting the challenge will be entered into a drawing for their choice of either a $1,000 Mooradians Furniture gift card or a two-night stay at Mirror Lake Inn and Spa in Lake Placid.

Union offers a range of convenient ways to make a donation: payroll deduction, check, cash or credit card. Employees may also designate where they would like their donation to go.

United Way supports a range of regional agencies that provide services ranging from early childhood development programs and medical and social programs to physical rehabilitation and veteran’s services. Funds raised stays local and provides assistance to 108 programs and initiatives representing 60 local agencies.

The deadline for completing the United Way pledge form is Friday, Feb. 28. The drawing for the “Step Up” challenge will take place at the conclusion of the 2013-14 campaign season. Gifts may also be sent to Kelly Lussier in Finance & Administration.
