Here are several upcoming concerts being hosted by the Music Department:
April 4 – Young Kim
This Friday, April 4 concert pianist Young Kim will be performing a lecture recital on Schumman’s Carnaval in Emerson Auditorium from 10:30 a.m. to 11:35 a.m.
Currently serving as the Director of the piano program at the College of Saint Rose, Kim is also an Assistant Professor of piano and has previously taught at both Union and the University of California at Santa Barbara. A recently named Steinway Artist, Kim has been praised by critics as “a pianist who is truly passionate, sensitive, and musical… extremely polished, expressive, and vibrant.”
April 5 & 7 – Chris Reynolds
On Saturday, April 5, 19-year-old pianist Chris Reynolds will perform a benefit concert for the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra in Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m., during which he will perform works by Schumann, Kreisler, Prokofiev and Liszt. The suggested donation for adults is $25, for general students is $10 and for Union students is $5.
On Monday, April 7, Reynolds will also perform a Taylor Time! concert, Transforming the Sonata: A Lecture-Recital on Liszt’s Piano Sonata, from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. in Emerson Auditorium. Admission is free of charge.
A renowned pianist, Reynolds has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors and is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, where he studied under Jeffrey Cohen.
