David Finckel and Wu Han return to the College Concert Series

Cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han perform on Sunday, Jan. 10 at 3 p.m. in Memorial Chapel.

The revered cellist alongside pianist Wu Han returns to the series offering a program of Strauss’s "Sonata in F Major, Op. 6, Messiaen’s Louange à l’Éternité de Jésus from Quatuor pour le fin du temps," selections from Albéniz’s Suite española, Op. 47, Glazunov’s Chant du Ménéstral, and Chopin’s "Sonata in G Minor, Op. 65."

Cellist David Finckel’s multifaceted career as concert performer, recording artist, educator, arts administrator, and cultural entrepreneur places him in the ranks of today’s most influential classical musicians. In recognition of artistic excellence and achievement in the arts, David Finckel and his long time recital partner, pianist Wu Han, were named Musical America’s 2012 Musicians of the Year, one of the highest honors granted by the music industry.

David Finckel and Wu Han serve as Artistic Directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Chamber Music Today Festival in Korea. They are also the founders and Artistic Directors of Music@Menlo, a chamber music festival in the San Francisco Bay Area. David Finckel has achieved universal renown for his passionate commitment to nurturing the careers of countless young artists through a wide array of education initiatives. For many years, he taught alongside the late Isaac Stern at Carnegie Hall and the Jerusalem Music Center. He has appeared annually on the Aspen Music Festival’s Distinguished Artist Master Class series and in various educational programs across the country.
