Alumna to speak at LGBTQ+ art reception

The LGBTQ+ at Union exhibition, now open at the Wikoff Student Gallery, includes student, alumni and faculty work in drawing, painting, illustration, photography, digital art, poetry and film.

“LGBTQ+ at Union, 2018: We Are ALL Union” runs through June 18.

A reception will be held May 2, 5-6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Now in its 10th year, the bi-annual LGBTQ+ at Union exhibition celebrates and promotes awareness of the experience of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community at the College.

This year’s artists are Professor of Visual Arts Martin Benjamin, Nicole Bergamini ’20, Kaitlynn Blow ’20, Sata Diakité ’21, Annika Eberle ’20, Abby Ellis ’20, Eva Erickson ’21, William Garner ’18, Richard Ham ’20, Alex Handin ’10, Emerson Hiller ’18, Emma Mahony ’21, Meredith Miller ’97 and Eric Seplowitz ’96.

Miller, a professor of law at the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and principal attorney in Miller Law PLLC, will speak at the May reception. She specializes in the areas of contract, employment and business law.

She is immediate past president of the LGBT Bar Association and Foundation of Greater New York (“LeGaL”), and second vice president of the Network of Bar Leaders. She also serves on the Independent Judicial Elections Qualification Commission for the First Judicial Department, and on the Richard C. Failla LGBTQ Commission of the New York State Courts.

This exhibition is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion; Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies; the Office of Multicultural Affairs; and the Committee on LGBTQ+ Affairs.
