NPR's Eric Deggans to speak on media coverage of race Oct. 21

Eric Deggans, National Public Radio’s first-full time TV critic, will speak on “Breaking Down the Wall: Decoding Media’s Confusing Coverage of Race and Culture” on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

As the presidential election approaches, citizens must sort through a growing avalanche of controversies and media stories rooted in race and culture differences. Deggans’ talk will sort through media coverage of this election season using lessons from his book, Race-Baiter: How the Media Wields Dangerous Words to Divide a Nation.

The talk is sponsored by Union’s Office of Intercultural Affairs, Black Student Union, Political Science Department and UNITAS.
