Union College Jazz Ensemble to open Jazz on Jay series

The Union College Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Tim Olsen, professor of music, will open this year’s Jazz on Jay concert series with a June 4 performance at Jay Square (across from City Hall in downtown Schenectady).

The series presents free jazz concerts Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. through August 27. In case of inclement weather, the series moves indoors to Proctors Arcade on State Street.

The Union College Jazz Ensemble

The program for June 4 includes classics from the big band era as well as cool jazz and more contemporary sounds. Smaller combos from the group will also perform original music.
