Toll Day gets a tweak: College’s largest day of community service expands to multiple days

Toll Day has a new name and more opportunities this year, but the mission remains unchanged: connecting students with Schenectady and the greater Capital Region to support ongoing projects and activities in the community. Started in 1996, the College’s largest day of community service has been known as John Calvin Toll Day since 2001. Let’s go U: Convocation opens Union’s 232nd academic year

As chants of “Let’s go U” filled a packed Memorial Chapel, Union officially kicked off its 232nd academic year with an hour-long ceremony Tuesday afternoon. The athletic chants were a nod to a special guest on the dais, former Union men's hockey star Shayne Gostisbehere ’15. Gostisbehere was back on campus to receive the Eliphalet Nott Medal. Former Union men's hockey star Shayne Gostisbehere ‘15 to receive Eliphalet Nott Medal

Nearly three months after winning the Stanley Cup, former Union men's hockey star Shayne Gostisbehere ‘15 will collect some more hardware: the Eliphalet Nott Medal. President Elizabeth Kiss will present Gostisbehere with the medal at Convocation, 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Memorial Chapel.
