Campus Safety

Emergency Preparedness

All members of the Union College community should familiarize themselves with the safety and emergency planning information and resources listed on this page. In the event of an emergency, they can serve as a quick reference for effective action.

Cellphone Updates

The college collects cellphone numbers from students, faculty, and staff to allow text-message alerts to be sent in the event of an emergency.

  • Employees - Contact Human Resources to add or update your cellphone number.
  • Students - Contact the Registrar's Office to add or update your cellphone number.

Department Emergency Notifications

Each department has the option to identify persons to be contacted by Campus Safety in an emergency. Please review your notification form at least annually to verify that all contacts are accurate.

It may be filled in electronically and emailed to campussafety@union.edu, or downloaded, filled in, and faxed to (518) 388-8737.

RAVE Emergency Alert System

Union College has partnered with RAVE Wireless to provide an emergency alert system capable of delivering messages to your Union and personal email addresses, as well as your mobile number and personal landline.

As a student or employee of Union College, your "@union.edu" email account is automatically registered and will receive notifications, along with your registered cellphone number if provided to the college. You may add additional contact information by visiting this site to get Rave and using your Union College login username and password.

An opt-in list is available if you wish to sign up for severe weather alerts in the Schenectady County area. Instructions for signing up are located here. If you have difficulty signing into RAVE from your Union College account and wish assistance, you may email campussafety@union.edu.

Emergency Siren

In the event of a serious incident on campus, an emergency siren will alert members of the campus community to seek additional information through the college's home page (www.union.edu), WRUC Radio (89.7 FM), and texts or emails.
