Minerva fellows working to raise money for Ugandan clinic

Minerva Fellows Brendan Kinnane ’11 and Mark O’Shea ’11, working in a rural village in southern Uganda, are looking for help from the Union community.

Kinnane and O’Shea have launched a fundraising campaign to provide a water supply to the Engeye Health Clinic and surrounding area. Currently, people must carry their own water from local boreholes to cook, bathe, clean and survive.

The money raised will expand the town’s rainwater collection system, supplying the clinic with an endless reserve of clean water. With that resource, the clinic expects to expand its medical services to include dental care, surgery and a maternity ward.

The two alumni are hoping to reach their goal of $3,500 by the end of February.
