New blog bridges language learning and current events

Advanced language students in the Chinese program are contributing to a news blog, guided by Associate Professor of Chinese and Asian Studies Megan Ferry.

The site is designed to integrate Chinese language students’ learning with current events in their daily lives and in the world, as well as media literacy. While the blog is completely in Chinese, those who cannot read the language have an option to view the blog in English. Read the blog by clicking here.

“The news blog is a pilot project, with a primary focus on fourth year Chinese this year,” said Ferry. The professor added that she is looking to include first through third year Chinese students.

The blog was also recently added to Union’s Social Stream, which brings together blogs, Twitter feeds, Facebook accounts and other social media from the Union community.
