The Union College Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa announced the election of new members.

From the Class of 2021:

Timur Abdullayev, Marina Angelopoulos, Erika Bonnist, Steven Crouch, Claudia Dalterio, Bonelyn De Los Santos, Beck DeYoung, Rachel Eisenberg, Eva Erickson, Justin Esposito, Tawreak Gamble-Eddington, Lindsay Gerrato, Tyler Greenwood, Emma Lee, Cate Llewellyn, Emma Mahony, My Nguyen, Adam Nichols, Joseph Palko, Michael Papaleo, Erika Sanders, Kathleen Sinatra, Devneet Singh, Hailey Sinon and Julianna Sweet.

From the Class of 2022:

Lydia Hogan, Emma Houston, Kira Kascha, Michela Michielli and Dereck Wang.

They join the following members of the Class of 2021 elected last year:

Chris Avanessian, Elsa Bechu, Emma Cravo, Shea Delehaunty, Sophie Hurwitz, Julianna Kramer, Charlotte Mineo and Lisa Spagnuolo.

Juniors and seniors of academic distinction who are candidates for the B.A. or general B.S. degree are eligible for membership in Phi Beta Kappa. Election is based on scholarship and character, with particular attention given to intellectual maturity and breadth. Union’s Phi Beta Kappa chapter, Alpha of New York, was established in 1817 and is the fifth oldest in the country. Election to membership is one of the highest distinctions given for academic achievement.
