Mary Carroll '86, the Dwane W. Crichton Professor of Chemistry, and Ann Anderson, the Agnes S. MacDonald Professor of Mechanical Engineering, along with co-authors Sri Teja Mangu, post-baccalaureate researcher, Zineb Hajjaj '20 and Margeaux Capron '22, have published a paper, “Aesthetic Aerogel Window Design for Sustainable Buildings,” special issue of the journal Sustainability.

An essay by Jordan Smith, the Edward E. Hale, Jr. Professor of English, about music, family, mental illness, memory, and John Clare, "My Grandmother's Mandolin," appeared in Live Encounters: Poetry and Writing. Read the piece here. Smith will also do a reading with poet Matthew Graham for the Sacramento Poetry Center’s Socially Distant Verse series on March 14 at 10:30 p.m. EST.

There was strong representation from Union at the recent Pi Sigma Alpha National Student Research Conference, held virtually the weekend of March 5-6. Senior political science majors Hannah Hoyt, Nathaniel Hutton, Rhys Moger, and Daniel Wilcox presented results from their senior thesis projects. Kenneth White '16, currently a Ph.D. candidate at Brown University, served as a discussant on two panels. In her role as national President of Pi Sigma Alpha, Zoe Oxley, professor of political science, delivered comments in multiple conference sessions.
