Mary Carroll ’86, the Dwane W. Crichton Professor of Chemistry, is a candidate for 2023 American Chemical Society President Elect. During the recent Spring 2022 ACS national meeting, she participated in a President Elect Town Hall event along with the other three nominees selected by the ACS Committee on Nominations and Elections. Carroll also attended and contributed to the meetings of the ACS Committee on Science, on which she serves as a member, and the ACS Council, on which she serves as a councilor for the Eastern New York ACS Local Section. Following a vote during the ACS Council Meeting, she was selected as one of two candidates. If elected in the fall, she will serve a three-year term in the presidential succession, including service on the ACS Board of Directors.

Christa Grant, assistant dean of diversity and inclusion and director of the Intercultural Center, served on a panel at the College of St. Rose’s Department of Social Work Conference, “Harnessing Our Collective Power to Build Solidarity.” Each panelist answered questions about their journey to creating social change and what they think it will take to address major issues that have long faced society.
