Constructive Engagement to discuss new Congress Feb. 1

Clifford Brown, the Robert Porter Patterson Professor of Government, and Zoe Oxley, professor of political science, will lead a Constructive Engagement event on “Representation and Dynamics in the New Congress” on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Olin 115.

The event will explore recent changes in Congress and what they may mean to the legislative process. The presenters also will discuss the many forms of civil engagement including volunteerism, community building and fundraising.

Clifford Brown’s teaching and research interests span the U.S. presidency, presidential elections, defense policy and political theory. Zoe Oxley specializes in U.S. politics, political psychology, women and politics, public opinion and mass media.

The event is organized by the College’s Chief Diversity Officers, Francesca Callahan and Dru Alvez.

Union’s Constructive Engagement series aims to broaden our perspectives on sometimes contentious issues and presents an opportunity for meaningful exchange instead of debates. The Constructive Engagement series is presented by the Williams Legacy Foundation.
