Andrew Burkett, professor of English and Co-Director of the Templeton Institute of Engineering and Computer Science, delivered an keynote address at the 20th international conference of the Society for English Romanticism, hosted by the English Department at Leipzig University. The conference, "Romanticism and its Media," ran from Oct. 5-8 in Leipzig, Germany.

Shena McAuliffe, assistant professor of English, gave the 2023 Barrie Cropper Lecture on the Craft of Creative Writing at the University of San Diego on Sept. 27. Her talk, “Writing Like Crows,” was followed that evening by a reading from her fiction as part of the Lyndsay J. Cropper Memorial Writers Series.

Stephen Berk, the Henry and Sally Schaffer Professor of Holocaust and Jewish Studies, was a featured speaker at a community rally hosted by the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York earlier this week in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks by Hamas. The rally included speeches by New York State Governor Kathy Hochul and U.S. Congressman Paul Tonko. Both politicians offered support and reflections. Christen Gowan, director of digital and content strategy, and Rachel McNeil, social media coordinator, co-presented at HighEdWeb, the annual conference for the Higher Education Web Professionals Association held this year in Buffalo, N.Y. The duo presented on a collaborative Instagram project completed earlier this year by the content team in the Communications and Marketing office.
