George Shaw, professor emeritus of geosciences, was the guest speaker at the 22nd Annual Rachel Carson Dinner of the Environmental Clearinghouse of Schenectady on Oct. 10. His talk was “Averting the Climate Crisis.”

A book by Robert Baker, the William D. Williams Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, was announced by MIT Press. “Making Modern Medical Ethics: How African Americans, Anti-Nazis, Bureaucrats, Feminists, Veterans, and Whistleblowing Moralists Created Bioethics” will be available in February 2024.

Francis Wilkin, senior lecturer in physics and astronomy, published a paper in the Minor Planet Bulletin, a journal specializing in asteroid studies. "Lightcurves for Koronis Family Objects (2498) Tsesevich and (2742) Gibson" includes student co-authors Aydana Djoroeva ‘25, Shams Qureshi ‘25, Gavin Wright ‘26, William Grimwood ‘24 and data from the Union College Observatory.
