Cameron S. Kay, visiting assistant professor of psychology, and Joshua Hart, professor of psychology, published a paper titled "Measuring conspiracy beliefs among Democrats and Republicans: A test of the measurement invariance of four short-form conspiracist ideation scales" in Personality and Individual Differences.
Cigdem Cidam, professor of political science, published "Resistance, Law, and the Limits of the Disobedience Framework" in the American Political Science Review - the flagship journal in the political science discipline. Cidam developed some of the ideas explored in this article in conversation with Union College students who took her Politics of Protest seminars in Winter 2023 and Fall 2024.
Nicole A. Theodosiou Associate Professor of Biology published an editorial "Bridging Developmental Biology and Social Justice to Reclaim Trust in Science and Society." Theodosiou is executive guest editor of the special issue "Teaching Developmental Biology for Social Change" in the journal Developmental Biology. The editorial appears in this special issue.
Transportation on the Oubangui River, which borders the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
David P. Gillikin, the William D. Williams Professor and Chair of Geosciences, co-authored an article published in European Geosciences Union: Biogeosciences. The article titled, “Reconstructing central African hydroclimate over the past century using freshwater bivalve shell geochemistry”, uses museum archived freshwater mussel shells from the Oubangui River to develop a paleoclimate record from 2013 back to the 1880s. The findings revealed that the central African drought is unprecedented in the last 100 years, suggesting climate change is having a profound effect on the region. This research was funded by a National Geographic Society Research and Exploration Grant to Gillikin.
