Publication Date

John Garver, professor of geology, has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Tectonics grant (#1728013) for his collaborative research project, “Collaborative Research: RUI: Translation and Accretion of the Yakutat Microplate and Prince William Terrane, Alaska”. This four year collaborative proposal with Cam Davidson at Carleton College will study the formation, transport history, and accretion of the Prince William terrane and Yakutat terrane in southern Alaska.

Over the course of the project, 25 undergraduate students from Union, Carleton, and the additional peer institutions in the Keck Geology Consortium will receive direct mentoring.

This project builds on previous work by Professors Garver and Davidson. For information on their work visit: http://minerva.union.edu/garverj/alaska/chugach_Keck.html
