Led by artistic director Derek Delaney, the Union College Concert Series has received a $10,000 grant in support of “The American Sound: Modernism and Eclecticism,” a project featuring recent works and a Union-commissioned piece by some of today’s leading American composers.

The Bender Scientific Fund of The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region
The grant from The Bender Scientific Fund of The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region enables Dr. Mason Stahl to collect samples on the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers and conduct chemical and microbiological analyses along with laboratory experiments to characterize the influence of river mixing on the consumption of organic carbon.

Tommaso Gazzarri, assistant professor of classics, was awarded a prestigious fellowship from the Loeb Classical Library Foundation at Harvard University. The fellowship will support his monograph titled The Stylus and the Scapel: A Theory and Practice of Metaphors in Seneca’s Prose.
