Zoe Oxley, professor of political science, was elected president-elect of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, during the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association. She will serve two years as president-elect and two years as president.

Mary Carroll, the Dwane W. Crichton Professor of Chemistry, and Ann Anderson, the Agnes S. MacDonald Professor of Mechanical Engineering, have co-authored a paper in the December issue of the Journal of Industrial Ecology. The article, “Life Cycle Assessment of Aerogel Manufacture on Small and Large Scales: Weighing the Use of Advanced Materials in Oil Spill Remediation,” is in collaboration with the research group of Desiree Plata ’03.

Students from the Chemistry and Biochemistry Clubs recently volunteered at National Chemistry Day festivities at the New York State Museum. Joanne Kehlbeck, associate professor of chemistry, accompanied the student group.
