George Shaw, professor emeritus of Geoscience, was recently featured in the article, "Biosolids 101: Health Department may draft sludge moratorium," in the Cobleskill Times Journal.

Lindsay Bush, associate librarian, took part in a panel presentation on the topic of escape rooms with Devon Cozad (Daemen University), Johanna Mackay (Skidmore College), and Fannie Ouyang (Barnard College) titled "Escape the Lecture: A Choose Your Own Adventure for Library Instruction" at The Library Collective in Kingsport, TN.

Lindsay Bush, associate librarian, and Jenna Pitera, assistant librarian I, presented a poster titled: "The First Year Knowledge and Expectation Gap: What Prior Knowledge Do Faculty Assume Students Bring?” at the Association of College and Research Libraries Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN.

Yifei Guan, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, recently published "Numerical investigation of two-dimensional electro-thermo-hydrodynamic turbulence: Energy budget and scaling law analysis" in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer. The paper is about fundamental energetic analysis of multiphysical turbulent convection. It broadens the traditional heat transfer analysis by considering the effects of an electric field. The study has potential applications to geophysical fluid dynamics, engineering, and turbulence theory.

On Friday April 25th, seven Union students, Jason Colagreco-Knight ’25, Matthew Connolly ’26, Brendan Cullen ’25, Seamus Foley ’25, Catherine Lapham ’25, Kirsten Litchfield ’25, and Jonanthan Rust ’25, presented their research at Parilia, a one-day undergraduate Classics conference with Hamilton, Skidmore, and Union Colleges.

Catherine Walker, associate professor of psychology, and former students Olivia Brand ‘23 and Nathalie Gullo ‘21, along with Erin Harrop, Ph.D. from the University of Denver, recently published "The impact of weight and race on perceptions of anorexia nervosa: a replication and extension of Varnado-Sullivan et al. (2020)" in the peer-reviewed journal Eating and Weight Disorders.
