Megan Ferry, professor of Chinese, presented a paper, “Affect Narratives: Making Space for Difference in China-Latin American Encounters,” at the 60 Years of the Tricontinental Conference: Context, Impact, Legacy, and Future A 60 Años de la Conferencia Tricontinental: Contexto, impacto, legado y futuro at the University of La Habana in Havana, Cuba.

Mark Dallas, professor of political science, has joined the Center for Strategic and International Studies, as a senior associate (non-resident) in their Economic Security and Technology Department. Based in Washington, D.C., CSIS is a bipartisan, nonprofit policy research organization dedicated to advancing practical ideas to address the world’s greatest challenges.

Research by Catherine Walker, associate professor of psychology, was featured on The Academic Minute. Walker’s research demonstrated that brief, functionality-focused exercises that encourage women to appreciate what their bodies can do, rather than how they look, can significantly improve body image and reduce eating disorder–related symptoms.

Francis Wilkin, senior lecturer in physics and astronomy and observatory manager, has co-authored three papers in The Astronomical Journal reporting the discovery of new exoplanets. Using mountaintop telescopes from the Las Cumbres Observatory, Wilkin helped confirm planet candidates identified by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS).
