Let’s go U: Convocation opens Union’s 232nd academic year

As chants of “Let’s go U” filled a packed Memorial Chapel, Union officially kicked off its 232nd academic year with an hour-long ceremony Tuesday afternoon. Nearly three months after winning the Stanley Cup, former Union men's hockey star Shayne Gostisbehere ‘15 will collect some more hardware: the Eliphalet Nott Medal. President Elizabeth Kiss will present Gostisbehere with the medal at Convocation, 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Memorial Chapel. President Elizabeth Kiss part of regional panel on the evolving state of higher education

President Elizabeth Kiss was among three newly appointed college presidents invited to share their thoughts on how they are redefining leadership at a time of rapid change and financial pressure for a panel, “New Leaders, New Lens: Inside the Evolving State of Higher Ed.” Hosted by the Albany Business Review, the panel also included Michael Brophy, president of Hudson Valley Community College and Matthew Shaftel, president of Russell Sage.

Forging a new path: Union celebrates the inauguration of President Elizabeth Kiss

Union officially ushered in a new era with the inauguration Friday afternoon of Elizabeth Kiss as its 20th president. Kiss (pronounced quiche) assumed the presidency July 1. She took over for David Harris, who stepped down in June after seven years as president. Kiss is the first woman to lead Union in its 230-year history.
