Schaffer Library offers two options for the return of library materials when you are ready. You are welcome to renew your materials provided that you are not a graduating senior. Information about return options and renewals can be found below.
We have partnered with FedEx to offer the option to return your Schaffer Library and/or Interlibrary Loan books using pre-paid mailing labels. You will receive an email from FedEx the first week of July, 2020. The email will contain instructions on how to return library materials using the prepaid mailing labels and how to locate your closest FedEx service provider. You will have 30 days to return library materials with the FedEx prepaid shipping labels. If you reside outside of the United States, please contact us for further instructions on how to return your books. If you are local, you may return library materials to College Park Hall.
Option 1 – Return using pre-paid shipping labels
Schaffer library is working with FedEx to get books back to campus. In early July, you will receive an email from FedEx that contains a template with a pre-paid shipping label (printing instructions included) and a link to find the closest FedEx location near you.
If you have a printer:
*Pack the book(s) in a box or padded envelope, print the label, and take the package to the nearest FedEx location.
If you do not have a printer:
*Pack up the book(s) and take the package to the nearest FedEx location, they will print the pre-paid label for you.
FedEx will ship the book(s) back to us at no cost to you.
**Packing materials (small boxes or padded envelopes) can be purchased at drugstores like CVS, the USPS, or FedEx. Please secure the package with packing tape.
Option 2 – Return Schaffer library and Interlibrary Loan Materials to Campus Safety
If you are local, or planning to be in Schenectady during the summer, you may return your library/interlibrary loan materials on campus.
Return library items to Campus Safety in College Park Hall (CPH), Monday – Sunday between 7:00am – 6:00pm.
There will be signage indicating the designated drop off space in the lobby of CPH.
Library equipment (non-book materials) should be returned directly to the Campus Safety officer at the desk.
We recommend taking a photo of the library material that you are dropping off. Library staff will retrieve these materials regularly.
Students and faculty who wish to hold on to Schaffer library and Interlibrary Loan materials may request a renewal. Graduating students may not renew Schaffer Library or Interlibrary Loan materials. You may renew Schaffer Library books by logging into your Library Primo Account. Interlibrary Loan renewal requests can be submitted via ILLiad.
