TI Support for Summer 2025 Research Projects
The application window for Summer 2025 programming has closed. Please check this space in Winter 2026 for details on TI support for Summer 2026 projects. We will also be sending a call for applications via email at that time.
The mission of the Templeton Institute is to enable connections, experimentation, innovation, and discovery through integrative coursework, projects, and research to promote the integration of engineering and computer science with the liberal arts at Union. The TI is excited to announce support for up to 4 research students for Summer 2025. We are interested in supporting projects that explore the critical TI goal of integrating engineering and computer science with the liberal arts.
We will support students at the 4, 6, or 8-week lengths. Applications should be submitted using the summer research application form and follow the proposal guidelines outlined on the undergraduate research website. Please indicate on the form if you are applying as a TI-related research project.
Our guidelines are:
- TI support is open to all students and faculty
- Minimum of 1 student and 1 faculty advisor, but projects with more than 2 team members are especially encouraged
- At least 1 team member (student or faculty) based in the sciences, social sciences, or humanities and at least 1 team member (student or faculty) based in engineering or computer science
- Supported projects will combine the interests and methods of the sciences, social sciences, or humanities with those of engineering or computer science
Examples of integrative topics include natural language processing, gaming, digital citizenship, music technology, digital arts, transportation, rebuilding infrastructure, implications of artificial intelligence, applications of virtual reality, automation, risks and potential of climate engineering, and food sustainability.
