Established in 1988 on the historic Union campus, Union College Academy for Lifelong Learning (UCALL) is a welcoming and inclusive membership organization for adults who enjoy learning.

UCALL offers two semesters of courses (fall and spring), plus a 4-week winter session. Our courses cover a wide range of topics, from Asian film, landscaping and contemporary journalism to medicine, music and more. They are presented by volunteers from the UCALL membership, Union faculty, and community leaders and experts. All courses are non-credit and require no exams or prerequisites. Special events and pop-ups are offered throughout the year.

Now more than 300 members strong, UCALL furthers the Union College tradition of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity and dedication to the life of the mind.

What our members are saying.....

"Since I retired about 8 years ago, UCALL has become a bright spot in my life. I worried about it when the pandemic hit. UCALL took some lemons and made very nice lemonade.” – Frank Strauss, member since 2013

“The courses are varied, rich in content, with presenters who are both expert and passionate about their subjects. I am looking forward to the next set of course listings with great anticipation. Although I now live in New Jersey, I grew up in Schenectady and am very happy to be able to participate, through the online courses, in this adult learning program coming from my hometown.” - Donna Kuba, new member

“UCALL has been a real mental spark during this time of isolation. Many ideas for further thought and rich musical rewards. Kudos to the team of organizers and presenters who have had the extra challenge and rewards of a job so well done!” - Lucy Comly, member since 2001
