Writing Programs

Hours & Location

Where to Find Us

The Writing Center is located on the second floor of Schaffer Library, Rooms 226 & 227. Please make an appointment online, and meet your writing mentor in Room 226.

Hours Of Operation

The Writing Center is open by appointment only, during the term Sunday through Thursday, 3-11pm. We are closed on Friday and Saturday. The Writing Center typically opens during the first week of classes. Because we are staffed by students the Writing Center is closed during breaks, when classes are not in session. If you have questions, please contact us!

What To Bring

Please bring to your conference a copy of the assignment sheet, or writing prompt, for the project that you're working on. You do not need to have anything written down to schedule an appointment (brainstorming, planning, talking over the assignment are all good!), but if you have started writing, bring everything that you have so far to your appointment with you.

If you have a draft, we suggest that you attach your draft before your appointment. You can do this by clicking on your appointment in WCOnline and using the "file attachment" function at the bottom of the appointment form. Or you can share your draft with your writing mentor via email or Google Docs.

But again, if you haven't started writing yet, don't worry! Make an appointment to discuss your project and we'll help you get started! Just bring whatever materials you need to get your writing project going (including the assignment sheet, readings, and your laptop, tablet, or whatever technology you use for writing). We're happy to work with good old-fashioned pencil and paper, too! .

There’s no limit to the amount of times you can visit the Writing Center for a single writing assignment. We just ask that you come early in your writing process (not just a day or few hours before your deadline). And we suggest that you come as often as you can, so you can get to work in the Writing Center!
