Make an Appointment

Please make an appointment at the Writing Center by using our online scheduling software, called WCOnline. The first time you use the software, you must register for an account. Please follow these steps:

  • Log-in using your Union College username (whatever comes before “@union.edu” in your email address). Your password will be your Union email password.
  • If you are logging in for the first time, you will be directed to a form titled “Create a New Account.” Complete the required fields. Click “Register.”
  • You will now be able to log-in and see the Writing Center schedule. Find a day and time that works for you, click on an available appointment (white box = available appointment), and fill out the appointment form. Click "create appointment."

Once you have created an appointment, you will receive an appointment confirmation via email. You do not need to have anything written down for your appointment (brainstorming, planning, talking through the assignment are all good!), but if you have started writing, bring everything that you have so far to your appointment with you.

If you have a draft, we suggest that you attach your draft before your appointment. You can do this by clicking on your appointment in WCOnline and using the file attachment function at the bottom of the appointment form. The writing mentor you've signed up to meet with will review all file attachments before you meet. Or you can share your draft with your writing mentor via email of Google Docs.

But again, if you haven't started writing, don't worry about it! Make an appointment to discuss your project and we'll help you get started!

If you have trouble signing up for a Writing Center appointment, contact us. The Writing Center is located on the second floor of Schaffer Library, Rooms 226 & 227. We are open during the term Sunday through Thursday, 3-11pm by appointment only. The Writing Center is closed on Friday and Saturday.

We are closed during breaks, when class is not in session.
