Bio

Nalani received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of California at San Diego. She completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University at Albany. She has greatly enjoyed her career path as it has taken her to diverse settings, including inpatient hospitalization, outpatient facilities and college counseling while spanning the developmental spectrum, including work with children, adolescents and families; young adults/adults; and geriatric populations. Nalani’s areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders; family of origin concerns; cultivating healthy relationships; gender and ethnic identity development; trauma and childhood abuse; and body image. Her theoretical orientation integrates Interpersonal, Family Systems, Multicultural and Cognitive-Behavioral perspectives.

Nalani believes that counseling is a holistic process which is most successful when it integrates your emotional, cognitive and spiritual worlds. This gives you an opportunity to develop a path to emotional well-being by building upon your strengths and cultivating strategies to improve ways to cope with areas of concern. Therapy should help you to obtain a balance in your life and empower you to face academic, emotional, developmental and interpersonal challenges with more ease and confidence.

In her personal life, Nalani enjoys being active outdoors, working on her DIY projects and spending time with her family and friends.
