Geosciences Department
Members of the Department of Geology at Union College stand in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. We see racism as a real and current issue, and know that systemic biases exist throughout our nation, including in our education system. We acknowledge that the geosciences has one of the least-diverse populations among the STEM fields. We firmly believe science thrives when exposed to different perspectives, so we must actively pursue diversity as a key asset of both our educational and research missions. We are committed to providing a welcoming, supportive environment, free from discrimination, and will strive to improve departmental student and faculty diversity, while raising awareness through education.
