Leadership in Medicine

Application Process

The eight-year Leadership in Medicine-Health Management Program is sponsored by Union College, Clarkson University (Capital Region Campus) and Albany Medical College. Acceptance into the program requires high school applicants to apply to Union College and to Albany Medical College. The application process begins in the fall of the senior year and ends in the spring when admission decisions are sent. Applicants must hold US citizenship or be a US permanent resident; residents of foreign countries will not be considered for this program.

This page has more information about applying for the program. Students submit an application to Union by November 1 using the Common Application or Coalition Application, indicating on the application form that they are applying for the Leadership in Medicine Program.

The applications are first evaluated at Union College and the applications of the top candidates are then forwarded to Albany Medical College for further review. These applicants complete the Albany Medical College application which should indicate an interest in and knowledge of Union's program. Albany Medical College’s admission committee selects applicants based on their connection to what Union's program offers. Some 80 students are chosen for interviews where they will be asked questions on their interest in and knowledge of both medicine and health management. These interviews are held virtually in January, February and March by the Medical College. Decisions are mailed to applicants in April.
