Aerogel Team Awarded NSF Partnerships for Innovation Grant

Development of Aerogel Materials for Automotive Pollution Reduction
Project Team: Ann Anderson, Agnes S. MacDonald Professor of Mechanical Engineering; Brad Bruno, professor of mechanical engineering; Mary Carroll, Dwane W. Crichton Professor of Chemistry

This grant supports the study, development, and application of aerogels as three-way catalysts for automotive pollution mitigation. Through this project, the team will also develop a research/entrepreneurship practicum to enhance the undergraduate curriculum by providing students with substantial entrepreneurial experience at precisely the point at which such training could have maximal impact: prior to entering graduate school or the STEM workforce.
