Theater students showcasing "The Hunchback of Seville"



The Department of Theater and Dance will be showcasing the production of Charise Castro Smith’s “The Hunchback of Seville” which runs from Nov. 1 to 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. in Yulman Theater.

Director William Finlay shines a comedic light on the life of Maxima Terriblé Segunda, a brilliant sister to Royal Highness Queen Isabella, who learns that the future of the country is in her reclusive hands while living her life locked in a tower. In this tongue-in-cheek story, Maxima maneuvers her way through the obstacles of prejudice, politics, religion, and the frights of Spanish history and colonialism.

The cast includes: Zachary Baum ’20 as Christopher Columbus, Matthew Dulchinos ’20 as HRH Queen Isabella, Angel Flores as Abdul Haseeb, Sophie Hurwitz ‘21 as the Maid, John Jiang ‘21 as Talib Furozh, Abigail-Mary Lehner ‘18 as Maxima Terrible Segunda, Huguens Saint-Fort ‘21 as Deputy Governor of Hispanola, Emma Youmans ‘20 as Espanta, and Megan Wells ‘18 as Infanta Juana.

Members of the ensemble include Steve Camarra ‘20, Abigail Marin ‘20, Nathan Oasis ‘19 and Richard Ward ‘18.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 18.
