As Collection Development Librarian, Kim is responsible for the oversight and direction of the general collection at Schaffer. She approaches the collection as a "growing organism" that is constantly responding to the needs of its users.

Prior to Union, she worked at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences as Assistant Library Director. She has also held library positions at Boston University, the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She has taught continuing education classes at Simmons University, served as a reviewer for Choice Reviews, a referee for Resources for College Libraries, and as a column editor for Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries.

Her professional interests include scholarly communication, particularly nontraditional impact measures and open access publishing. She is also interested in non-Western ways of knowing and their implications for libraries.

She currently serves as president of the Capital District Library Council Board of Trustees and as editor-in-chief of Public Services Quarterly.
