Mathematical minds converge for conference at Union

Union welcomed 300 students and faculty from nearly 50 colleges and universities on Saturday, April 5, when it hosted the annual Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference. The largest conference of its kind in the U.S., its goal is to provide undergraduates with the experience of attending and/or presenting at a professional mathematics meeting. Topics covered included abstract algebra, analysis, data science, graph theory and statistics.

Nott Logical: Student band hits all the right notes

On the warmest day of the year, when students emerged from hibernation to excitedly awaken the campus from its winter slumber, four musicians crowded into a cramped space of the WRUC studios on the fourth floor of Reamer Campus Center. Performing as Nott Logical, the four – Cray Case ‘25, Sam Dickinson ’27, Alex Ottavio ’25 and Gianna Talarico ’25 – forgo the sun on this early weeknight to rehearse for two hours. Founders Day a time to reflect on the history of Blacks at Union

at Founders Day Thursday in Memorial Chapel. The event commemorates the 230th anniversary of the granting of Union’s charter by the state Board of Regents in 1795, regarded as one of the first public calls for higher education.
