Wold Lobby, by doors to Olin
Sailha Nazir, '23 will be awarded the Bittleman Memorial Prize this year. Her submission portfolio is currently on display in the Wold Student Art Gallery (a newly named space near the Steinmetz car) through commencement.
Says Nazir: "These paintings, drawings, and etchings are the result of three years of study in the
Visual Arts Department. I used the self-portraits here simply as a means of experimenting with different techniques and media. These include palette knife painting, paint scratching, aquatint, maybe some finger painting, and even using an impression of a flattened shield bug. In all of these works, I tried to push outside my comfort zone and try something new. Each one of these pieces is an experiment."
