Harris House is named in honor of David R. Harris, 19th president of Union College, his wife Anne, and their daughters Eve, Olivia, and Maya.
An inspiring leader, mentor, and powerful voice for the student experiences, David Harris has devoted himself tirelessly to advancing Union's vision: To develop every student to lead with wisdom, empathy and courage, in ways large and small, now and across multiple tomorrows.
He has challenged the Union community to "be comfortable being uncomfortable" and to embrace constructive dialogue. A champion of greater access to education for all students and stronger ties between the college and the city of Schenectady. His legacy will be enduring.
This house was dedicated on May 8, 2025.
