Accessibility

Our goal

The Library is committed to making its collections and services as accessible as possible and will provide assistance to anyone requiring it.

Getting around the library

Schaffer Library is physically accessible. There are physically accessible computers in the Learning Lab, located on the first floor. Users may make accessibility adjustments (i.e., adjust screen resolution) to all library computers. Elevators are available to all levels. No steps are required to access materials within the open stacks or to use the Special Collections reading room. The Circulation Desk has breaks within its counters for book checkout.

Please ask staff members on duty for assistance with retrieving material from the stacks, enlarging the font on library computers, or other needs.

Study rooms in the basement provide quiet spaces with controlled light.

View floor maps for each library level.

For students

The Library works closely with the Director of Accommodative Services, Shelley Harrington, who has oversight of accommodative services for students on campus. Each student's needs and requests are handled individually. Please contact the college's Accommodative Services Office, Reamer Campus Center, (518) 388-7175, harrings@union.edu, if you have problems, questions, or concerns.

The Library has multiple methods of obtaining alternate format materials, including audio, as needed.
