ITS has several advisory committees that advise the CIO and ITS Directors on the selection and prioritization of work. The committees are forums that air, discuss, and evaluate IT issues.
IT Advisory Committee
The IT Advisory Committee shall discuss whatever business the Co-Chairs or members of the committee shall place before it. This shall include all new policies and changes to IT policies and procedures that significantly affect administrative offices. Proposed new policies and changes to IT policies and procedures shall normally be presented to the Committee at least one month before a policy decision is finalized. All decisions of the committee are advisory to the Chief Information Officer.
Liaison Committee for Academic Computing and Technology
The function of the Liaison Committee for Academic Computing and Technology (LCACT) is to help form IT policy on all matters pertaining to the operation, maintenance, and improvement of technology and computing that affect the academic program and mission of Union College. This Committee is also charged with assessing the current use of technology for academic purposes and academic technology needs on an annual basis to aid in formulating appropriate IT policies and procedures. As part of this mission the Committee will develop and maintain effective means for integrating views of the faculty into IT policy.
Administrative Systems Advisory Committee
The function of the Administrative Systems Advisory Committee (ASAC) is to help vet new systems that impact enterprise processes being considered by administrative offices, and to evaluate and recommend potential projects. The committee's scope will focus on data, systems, reporting, training, and support for enterprise applications and systems. This committee will also develop and maintain effective means for integrating views of the administrative offices into IT policy.
Data Operations Committee
The Data Operations Committee is a coordinating committee under the oversight of the Administrative Systems Advisory Committee. The function of the Data Operations Committee is to plan, coordinate, and, in some cases, perform the work of regulating the College’s data. This includes resolving data definitions as needed, reducing data duplication, and addressing operational problems in data reporting.
