Hillig Music Technology Gift

Kurt W. Hillig and Kathy J. Dien Hillig Music Technology Studio Fund

The Music Department received a transformative $100,000 gift from Kurt W. Hillig (1975) and Kathy J. Dien Hillig. This generous gift supports the developing Music Technology program at Union College. With their support the Music Department renovated the Music Technology Studio by transforming its layout as well as upgrading and expanding the studio's equipment, including new computers, workstations, audio interfaces, and microphones. The Music Technology Studio is the primary teaching space for the department's Music Technology courses, and this renovation and upgrade will further support experiential hands-on activities that are integral to both new and existing courses.

Hugh Allen Wilson and Hilary Tann Annual Music Fund

At the end of 2021, Kurt Glacy '90 established the Wilson and Tann Annual Music Fund. Each year, this gift provides scholarships for four to five students, covering their instrumental or voice lessons. While the students must give a public performance and study music, there is no requirement for major or GPA. This gift allows students the ability to grow their musical talent regardless of academics or background. In addition, Kurt also provided the Music Department with the Kurt M. Glacy Endowed Fund for Music. This provides the department with funding to maintain and restore the department's instruments, and purchase or lease new instruments as well.
