Triota Honor Society 2019

On Thursday, May 30th, twelve students were inducted into Iota Iota Iota (Triota), the GSWS Honor Society. Several GSWS core faculty attended the event in support of the students.

Sadock Women in the Arts -- Janine Joseph

The Sadock Women in Arts lecture with Janine Joseph, poet, librettist, and professor of creative writing at Oklahoma State University, was held in Emerson Auditorium on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Dr. Joseph's talk was followed by a reception in Breazzano House. The event was supported by Sadock Women in Arts, Minerva, and IEG.

Alumnae Tea

On Friday, May 17th, the GSWS Program hosted the annual Alumnae Tea. GSWS majors gave poster presentations of their theses, after which attendees engaged in a lively discussion of the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of women students at Union College.

Valerie J. Hoffman, Feminisms for the 21st Century -- Cheryl Fish

On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, Dr. Cheryl J. Fish, Professor of English at Borough of Manhattan Community College, City University of New York, and Docent in the Department of Cultures at University of Helsinki, spoke to a lively group. Dr. Fish was the spring 2019 Valerie J. Hoffman, Feminisms for the 21st Century speaker.

GSWS Minerva Prize 2019

Christie Dionisos '19, a Neuroscience and GSWS double major, is the recipient of the distinguished GSWS Minerva Prize, which is awarded to a female student whose work best combines the scholarly study of women or gender with activities that enhance the life of women on campus.

Denim Day - April 24, 2019

Women's Union is hosting their annual Denim Day march on April 24th, during common lunch. The march leaves Reamer and ends in Old Chapel, where lunch will be provided and Professor Feffer will share a few words with us. The march is a rallying call to members of the campus community that we as students will not stand, and we are committing to being advocates for increased awareness and education.
