Catching up with...Patrick Gwamna

Patrick Gwamna recently joined Union as a major gift officer, bringing with him a passion for building personal relationships with donors and connecting their interests with the College’s priorities. His work includes securing major contributions to support everything from everyday activities to long-term strategic goals. The move to Union also brought Gwamna to a new part of the country. An Iowa native, he and Perci, his Frenchton, arrived in Schenectady a little over a year ago after Gwamna spent several

Electric City Maker Faire to bring inventors, designers and tinkerers to Union

The Electric City Maker Faire returns to Union’s campus Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at College Park Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Making encourages inventors, designers and tinkerers to use higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills for individual and collaborative project-based learning. This is typically done in shared spaces such as Union's Maker Web using technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters and desktop machine tools.

Union and The Egg to present Compagnie Hervé KOUBI as part of annual dance residency

Compagnie Hervé KOUBI, a mesmerizing French dance company which offers a mix of contemporary and urban dance, capoeira and martial arts, comes to Union this fall as part of the Department of Theater and Dance’s annual Stephanie C. Davis Dance Residency. Union is partnering with The Egg for a two-day residency that will include a master class, a lecture/demonstration and a public performance. This will be Compagnie Hervé KOUBI’s first appearance in the Capital Region.

College receives national grant to advance character education at Union

Union has received a $50,000 Capacity-Building Grant from the Educating Character Initiative, a project of The Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University. The College is among 68 institutions that will be impacted by these grants, which are dedicated to advancing character development in higher education. The grant will support themes over this academic year surrounding the College’s vision of “developing every student to lead with wisdom, empathy and courage” in a more intentional appr
