Biography

Laurie Zabele Cawley has an extensive history in both performing, choreographing and teaching. Laurie danced professionally for over 20 years; dancing with Whitley Setrakian and Dancers-People Dancing, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, Harbinger Dance Company, Ann Arbor Dance Works, 2 Duet Theater, Tango Fusion as well as numerous independent artists. She has danced with artists from David Parsons, Mark Morris, Bill T. Jones and Martha Graham Dance Company. She has guest taught at various colleges and universities, private schools, ACDFA, summer intensives, and was the program coordinator for the dance program at Oakland Community College in Michigan. Her students have gone on to dance professionally, teach in universities, and start their own company’s. Laurie has choreographed throughout her professional career setting works on dancers throughout the mid-west and east coast. In 2013 she founded Loose Change Dance Collective which has performed in NYC, Brooklyn, Rochester, Geneva and throughout the capital region. Laurie is Level 1 certified in the Franklin Method.
