Beginning with the class of 2022, Union's BA in Economics degree qualifies as a STEM degree, according to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). As a result, international students graduating with a BA in Economics from Union are now eligible to apply to stay in the US for an additional 24 months under an F1 visa extension program, Optional Practical Training (OPT) - STEM.

The Managerial Economics Major is not classified as a STEM major. An Interdepartmental Major in Economics is not classified as a STEM major.
