Biomedical Engineering Team Awarded Grant from NIH for Enhanced Capstone

This project will advance Union’s enhanced biomedical engineering senior capstone experience. The initiative comprises an immersive summer clinical immersion experience at Albany Medical College (AMC), in partnership with Amy Johnson ’80, entrepreneur-in-residence at the AMC Biomedical Accelerator and Commercialization Center (BACC). After spending eight intensive weeks shadowing medical doctors and surgeons on a “problem-finding” mission, students return to campus and work in teams through and expanded two-course senior capstone design experience, designing and prototyping solutions to medical problems, followed by translation/commercialization exploration with BACC and industry mentors.
